American Idol’s” farewell season is making a splash with talented performers in this year’s auditions. But one performer went above and beyond before she took to the audition stage, according to “American Idol”.
Linda Halimi, 26, a singer from Kosovo, was 150 pounds lighter when she braved the judges table, according to “American Idol.”
Halimi said that people always told her she had a good voice, but made harsh comments about her weight. “In my hometown when I started singing, a lot of people were like ‘oh, she has a nice voice, but she’s really fat'” Halimi said, according to “American Idol.”
She credits working out and eating healthy along with help from her personal trainer (now husband) for her weight loss. She is now a personal trainer herself, according to “American Idol.”
Halimi performed “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World,” according to People.
The judges were impressed with her performance. Jennifer Lopez proclaiming “She sings like a heavy girl,” mid performance, according to “American Idol.”
Not everyone was impressed with Lopez’s comments to the singer, according to TV Guide.
Twitter users blasted Lopez’s comments. “How does a ‘heavy girl’ sing @JLo?!?! Very disappointed,” Megan Anderson wrote, according to TV Guide.
And Molly wrote, “Jennifer Lopez, why don’t you stfu & stop saying that girl sings like a ‘heavy girl’ bc u already know that’s something she’s sensitive about,” according to TV Guide.
Whether her comments were appreciated or not, Lopez joined fellow judges Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban in rewarding Halimi with a ticket to Hollywood for her performance.
