At a job interview, a man was asked for his response to a moral dilemma. You’ve probably come across many ethical dilemmas both large and small and how you deal with them may show how much of an ‘out-of-the-box’ type of thinker you are.
absenceofclothing.com‘1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die; 2. An old friend who once saved your life; 3. The perfect man (or) woman you have been dreaming about. Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?’
If you pick up the old lady who needs to go to the hospital you’ll miss your old friend and the man/woman of your dreams. If you pick up your old friend the old lady might die and you’ll miss out on the romance of a lifetime. If you pick up your dream lover the old lady might get sick and die and you’ll miss your old friend. How would you respond to this moral dilemma? How do you think this guy who stood out among 200 applicants replied?

His response was genius. He wrote that, ‘I would give the car keys to my old friend, and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the woman of my dreams.
Giving his car keys to his old friend to take the old lady to the hospital was a very unique response because it considered details that weren’t included in the facts presented. So with a little creative thinking he managed to have his cake and eat it too. His interviewers loved the way he thought out-of-the-box and he was offered the job out of 200 applicants.
