Anytime an audience member wants to jump on stage and sing a duet with the musician it’s always a little concerning. You never know how it’s going to sound and you always assume the worst. Like when 19-year-old college freshman Michael Pollack sat in the audience at Vanderbilt University while Billy Joel conducted a Q&A and performed for the excited students. The longtime fan quietly raised his hand and asked if he could play with the music legend. Not expecting him to actually say yes, Billy obliged — and when they broke into “New York State Of Mind” (one of my all-time favorite songs) it was nothing less than amazing.

“Michael Pollack… remember his name!” Billy said. Can you imagine if your idol said this about you?! Great job, Michael!

Enjoy, and please SHARE this incredible performance.
