Every couple wishes to have the perfect wedding and hopes everything to be exactly the way they imagine it in their head. This couple made sure that their wedding was exactly how they had envisioned it and it was magical. Polly Gibson and Joe Minogue, who both have down syndrome planned a colorful, dreamy and fun wedding, and it was nothing short of an exciting musical.
Polly and Joe’s wedding was titled the WedFest.
The couple from Surrey, England got married in the presence of 200 friends and family, and made their big day memorable not only for themselves, but for everyone present.
The big day was full of fun, complete with a unicorn throne for the couple, singing waiters, lots of dancing, their favorite songs and a sprinkle wedding cake.
Both, the bride and groom love to sing and dance, so they had their favorite tracks play during the ceremony. Polly shared with Rock N Roll Bride – “Joe and his brothers walked down the red carpet to ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ and I walked down the red carpet to ‘When You Wish Upon a Star.’ Before the vows, we played ‘I Do, I Do, I Do’ with our guests accompanying on kazoos! We danced to ‘Come What May’ just before we exchanged rings. Our going out song when we were scattered with confetti was ‘I’m A Believer.’”
Polly was ecstatic to have the wedding of her dreams.
She ditched a traditional wedding dress and wore a cream patterned gown with sneakers.
The couple met eight years ago when they were studying together at Central Sussex College.
“We were instantly attracted to each other,” Polly shared.
“They constantly check on each other, help each other, are very kind and thoughtful with each other,” Polly’s mother Janet Gibson said. “Polly is the bossy one, Joe is more down to earth. He adores her. They are totally at ease with each other and they each respect the other.”
Polly hopes that their love will inspire other couples with special needs to never lose hope and do whatever their heart tells them to.
“My advice to other couples, especially to young adults with special needs, is to live the dream, believe in yourselves and that anything can be possible,” she said.
