When this little girl, Emma, was only six months old her parents noticed something was wrong. It looks as if she is just making funny faces, but there was an underlying condition. She was basically born with crooked eyes and her pediatrician was unable to diagnose her at 3 or 5 months.
So, they began on a journey to correct their little girl’s eyes.
Congenital esotropia is a type of strabismus that appears within the first 6 months. The reason Emma’s doctor might have overlooked the diagnosis was because in the first months of life, it is common for the eyes to intermittently become misaligned. However, if that misalignment persists, that’s when you should take your baby to see pediatric ophthalmologist.
