Ebru is the art of dropping colored pigments into water and oil to create amazingly detailed pictures once they’re transferred to paper, and as you can see in this video, creating the art is art unto itself!
Careful droplets of ink are slowly blended over and over again to create some of the most amazing pictures ever, and the artist has to work quickly and seamlessly to get the desired effects. This is certainly a skill, and it’s mesmerizing to watch!
Ebru has been practiced for centuries, and it’s amazing how similar the practice has remained throughout hundreds of years.
