Just wait until you see the final shot of this video. Be still, my heart!
One day, a tree fell down in Abbey’s yard and a tiny, baby squirrel fell to the ground. But what happened next is just incredible.

She initially left the squirrel outside for about a day, but when Abbey and her family returned to check, the baby was still there. His mother either never found him or had died. So, Abbey took it upon herself to take care of this little squirrel until he was ready to be released.

Abbey’s canine pride and joy, Millie, quickly befriended the baby squirrel in need of a mother. The video below is simply adorable — watch how this awesome family welcomes a little stranger as one of their own.

As you can see, Millie delights in playing with the baby, whom Abbey dubbed “Squirrel.” When Abbey took this video, Squirrel had already lasted just over a week under her care. She said he evolved from not having his eyes open to a bounding squirrel full of energy who loves playing with Millie and, of course, eating.

Abbey notes, “Neither my dog nor the squirrel has been hurt during their play. He is not meant to be kept as a pet, and will be released as soon as possible.”

If only all living beings could be so kind, the world would be a much happier place.
