These photos could be the most heartwarming throwback Thursday photos you’ll ever see. In a recent photo series by the Trio Animal Foundation, 14 rescue dogs were photographed to show how much they’ve changed and healed up after the abuse and neglect they’ve experienced in their lives.

The before and after-themed concept demonstrates the positive impact that a home and a loving owner can have on an animal that experienced trauma. The Chicago-based foundation is dedicated to providing rescue groups and shelters with financial help to pay for the medical bills of animals in recovery.

According to the Huffington Post, injuries sustained by these animals include gunshot wounds, abandonment and more than 100 bite wounds. Despite the heartbreaking amounts of abuse done to these animals, these photos show a tremendous amount of positive change in each dog’s life. Check out the photos below!
