South Carolina identical twins Zaakira Mitchell and Shaakira White were in Palmetto Health Baptist for one stunning reason. Both of the women found out they were pregnant within just three weeks of each other, and now the sisters were giving birth at the same time. Shaakira even gave birth to twins herself. Was it all planned? Not at all.
“Everybody always asks, ‘Did you all plan this? Did you all plan this?’ No, it was not planned!” Zaakira told FOX 57. The twins even have the same doctor who was flabbergasted by the event.
“I’ve never actually seen just twins being pregnant at the same time more or less delivering on the same day, and none of my friends have ever had that happen either,” Dr. Ferguson says. Zaakira delivered a couple days before her due date, while Shaakira went into labor a couple of weeks early. The coincidence made for a newsworthy story. It’s one that we’ve seen before with identical twins Aimee and Ashley Nelson, who gave birth hours apart.
“Everything happens for a reason,” says Shaakira. “It was God’s plan,” Zaakira added. The ladies plan on raising their little ones together so that they can be as close as they were!
