When United States Marine Corps veteran, Matt Foster, returned home from a tour in Afghanistan he was missing one very important thing, his best friend. During his time spent fighting for our country, Matt and his best buddy Mick were inseparable. They ate together, slept together, and patrolled together. When Matt finished his tour and headed back home to Denver, his heart sank knowing that he was going to leave his best friend behind.

Seven-year-old Mick was contracted out to work for the U.S. military, he served four tours in Afghanistan and is one of hundreds of K9s that devote their lives to protecting our soldiers in times of conflict.

When Matt arrived back home he immediately put in a request to adopt Mick and, with the help of the American Humane Association and Mission K9 Rescue, a year later the two best friends were back in each other’s arms.

It’s amazing to see our military dogs get the welcome home they deserve. There’s no doubt Mick will have a long spoiled life with Matt!

Thank you to all our service men, women, and animals for everything that you do.
