This is either something straight out of a nightmare, or every reptile lover’s science fiction fantasy. It started as a normal round of golf, but guests at the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto, FL, were absolutely shocked when, out of nowhere, a massive alligator came crawling across the grass. And this was no ordinary alligator common to the Sunshine State… but perhaps the biggest alligator ever recorded!
Golfer Charles Helms was brave enough, and lucky enough, to capture the surreal sight on camera. When another man walked up to film the gator, it’s clear how gigantic this creature actually is. Some people say he’s 15 to 16 feet long; the biggest alligator ever recorded in Florida was 14 feet long and 780 pounds.
Buffalo Creek Golf Course employee Wendy Schofield says, “People have heard that he is out here and that is all they want to see so they will bring spectators to ride so somebody can get a picture. He doesn’t bother anybody and they don’t bother him, he’s like a mascot for the course, which is owned by Manatee County.” Of course, some viewers suspect the clip is all thanks to CGI animation while news sources and golfers themselves say the gator is 100 percent real.
