By this point, we’ve heard so many horror stories about dogs being left in hot cars and dying as a result — yet it continues to happen.
NFL player Tyrann Mathieu recently teamed up with PETA to prove a shocking yet powerful point — and ifthis guy can barely get through it, then you know it’s a very real issue.
The Cardinals defensive back stepped into an SUV parked under the scorching sun to see how long he could last inside. As soon as he closes the doors and rolls the windows up, he experiences what it’s like for a dog. For eight anguishing minutes, Tyrann suffers and sweats — and dogs can’t even sweat, mind you. Once the temperature hits 113 degrees, Tyrann has had enough. He nearly passes out the second he emerges from the vehicle, thankful for ability the escape.
According to PETA, “Parked cars are deathtraps for dogs: On a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 100 and 120 degrees in just minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes.”
“I seriously couldn’t imagine leaving my dog in a car like this,” Tyrann said. “If you’re going to make a dog a part of your family, then make him a part of your family. Don’t treat him like you wouldn’t someone you cared about or someone you loved.”
