Everyone loves receiving cards and cakes on their birthdays, but what if you combined the two? This DIY project takes the traditional birthday card to a whole new level, and it’s a homemade gift straight from the heart. Watch as Jenny, the mom behind YouTube channel “Show Me Cute,” demonstrates how to turn an ordinary sponge into an adorable slice of cake that can be mailed out and sent to a loved one as a birthday card.

To create this DIY Birthday Cake Postcard, you’ll only need five ingredients — a large sponge, spray paint, caulk, spray adhesive and heavy paper. Postage to mail will cost you around $3 per slice, but the reaction from the recipient will be priceless. “Imagine how happy and excited you’d be, if you went to your mailbox one day and pulled out a slice of cake,” Jenny says. “Now you can surprise friends and family (and probably even your mail carrier), with this three-dimensional, mailable postcard, cleverly disguised as cake.”

Watch the video below for the complete step-by-step guide. But just a warning: you’ll be craving a slice of actual cake by the end 🙂

We love a good DIY project, and this one is simply adorable. Please SHARE this lovely idea with your friends on Facebook!
