When it comes to upcycling, the old idiom, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” couldn’t be truer. That’s exactly what Tanya from Lovely Greens believes. When she found an old wooden palletthat was being thrown away, she saw its near infinite potential.
Instead of letting it go to waste, she transformed the object into a lovely strawberry pallet planter that she put right into her backyard garden. Check out how she did this today!
After introducing the project, Tanya starts showing you how to build the strawberry planter at the 2:40-mark in the video.
She starts by cutting the pallet up into three equal lengths. Once all of your cuts are made, pull off the little slats on the back. Don’t break them because they will be used later in the project.
Tanya grabs a metal chisel and makes short work of the “feet” by hammering them off.
After the pieces are all organized, she props up all three sides and screws in the sides to create the strawberry planter container.
At the 6:30-mark, you’ll watch Tanya building the planter and putting in bits of leftover slats to create the edges.
Flip to the 7:20-mark to see her put the feet onto her planter. If she can just get her cat out of the way!
Once your planter box is built, you can fill it with wire and compost to create the perfect soil for your strawberries. She explains her process that the 8-minute mark.
