Grab some Kleenex because this video is a tearjerker — and proof that animals do have emotions.

Losing a pet is devastating. The pain we feel is like the loss of a close family member to many people. In this next video, one family woke up to find that their beloved rescue dog Hank had passed during the night and went to heaven. As they processed their loss, the family was shocked to find Hank’s twin Brutus grieving as well. Brutus refused to leave Hank’s side and wouldn’t budge, laying on top of his head.

According to his owner, “Brutus has never whined or cried out in pain the two years I have had him. But clearly you can see in his eyes, he is crying for his brother who had passed as his world around him just crumbled.”

This is proof that animals do have emotions and feel pain just like we do. Watching this gentle giant cry is so heart-wrenching. It’s so difficult to lose your best friend. There’s hope in knowing that when an animal dies, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. All dogs go to heaven.
