This is the kind of work that will seriously make you second-guess what you’re seeing.

Gustavo Silva Nuñez is a hyperrealistic painter. He specializes in creating scenes of people floating, swimming, or even just sitting in water. The level of realism in his paintings is pretty darned amazing, but Nuñez likes to take his art a step further.

When he’s finished with his paintings, Nuñez poses with them to create an optical illusion of sorts. The result is that it looks like he’s actually interacting with the people on the canvass. It’s pretty amazing, and works because his paintings are so realistic. Just check them out.
