A woman has been charged with child abuse after allegedly attacking a boy who called her “fat” and “Miss Piggy” during a flight home from Disney World, according to airport police.
Kristy Crampton was arrested Monday at Sanford-Orlando International Airport. While the exact nature of her relationship to the child remains unclear, police say they were part of a group traveling together back to Maryland, according to a report obtained by WFTV.
According to witnesses, Crampton began attacking the child just before takeoff, after he told her she was too fat to fit in her seat. She allegedly punched him, struck him with a water bottle, and slammed his head into the airplane window as he tried to shield himself, airport police stated in their report.
The pilot alerted authorities, and Crampton was taken into custody at the gate.
She later told police the child had been “very rude” and “disrespectful” throughout their Dis
After the child called her “fat” on the plane, Crampton took his phone away and began “smacking” him when he twice pushed her arm off the armrest, she told police.
However, a witness told authorities that “the woman was not correcting the child; she was abusing him.”

The exact relationship between Crampton and the child was not immediately clear, and the family declined to comment to police, according to WFTV.
Crampton was charged with felony child abuse. She appeared in Seminole County court on Tuesday, where a judge set her bond at $10,000 and ordered her to have no contact with the child.
