Kanye West appeared in court Friday to testify in a trial over the unfinished renovation of his former $57 million Malibu mansion.
The rapper arrived at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse looking stoic, dressed entirely in black, including a long coat, shirt, pants, and boots.
Kanye West arrived at court wearing a long black trench coat.
The trial, now in its second week, revolves around a lawsuit filed by handyman Tony Saxon. Saxon claims he was hired by West to complete renovations on the Malibu mansion, which included removing all electrical wiring, windows, and plumbing.
According to Saxon, the project quickly fell apart, leading him to sue West in 2023 for more than $1 million, citing unpaid wages, unsafe working conditions, and wrongful termination.
West never moved into the Malibu property and ultimately sold it in 2024 for $21 million—far below its original $57 million value.
Ye’s wife, Bianca Censori, testified before the jury Thursday about her role in the Malibu mansion renovation. She largely told the court that she wasn’t involved in the project and had minimal direct interaction with handyman Tony Saxon.
During her testimony, Censori was questioned about an awkward moment in the trial when Saxon said he had mistaken Kim Kardashian for Bianca during a visit to the home. That line of questioning was quickly objected to, and the judge struck it from the record.
