George Takei, pictured above with his husband Brad, was seen using a cane and holding tightly onto his spouse’s arm during a recent outing.
Takei married former financial journalist Brad Altman in 2008, though the couple has been together since 1985.
In 2024, the actor spoke about the key to their long-lasting relationship, saying their dynamic works because they share a full range of emotions together, including humor and occasional disagreements, which he believes keeps their bond strong.
George, pictured above with Brad in New York City in 2022, also reflected on how their relationship works despite their differences, describing the couple as “opposites.”
He said, “I developed that skill, but now I don’t need to. I can be candid and forthright.”
George also admitted that, prior to coming out, he did not feel able to be his “whole self.”
“Here I am protecting my job, my career, what I want to do, while others who had the same difference that I did were sacrificing all that and actively engaging with the larger society and making progress,” he told the outlet.

The couple (pictured above) went on an outdoor stroll in Los Angeles on April 9.
