Boris Johnson’s wife, Carrie, has shared a heartwarming photo of their newborn daughter, Poppy, bonding with her older siblings just days after announcing the surprise arrival.

Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson was born on May 21, marking the couple’s fourth child together after a mostly private pregnancy.

Mrs. Johnson revealed that little Poppy—affectionately nicknamed “Pop Tart”—will be their final child, and that both parents are utterly smitten with her.

Just days after announcing Poppy’s birth, Carrie Johnson shared a new photo of the baby cuddled up with her siblings—three-year-old Romy, five-year-old Wilfred, and Frank, who turns two this July.

In the picture, set to upbeat music on Mrs. Johnson’s Instagram Stories, Poppy rests in Romy’s lap, with the toddler gently wrapping her arms around her newborn sister. Meanwhile, Frank and Wilfred sit on either side of them on a red-and-white striped sofa, watching over the baby.

The ex-PM’s wife also posted other snapshots hinting that the family is enjoying a relaxed Bank Holiday Monday. Among the Stories are a glass of Aperol Spritz captioned “Never tasted better,” and a sunny patio scene featuring burgers, steaks, skewers, and corn cobs grilling.

Poppy has become little sister to Wilfred, Romy and Frank who are 'utterly delighted' to welcome a new member of the family

Mrs. Johnson, 37, announced the surprise birth over the weekend, revealing her daughter’s full name as Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson.

Poppy was born on Wednesday at University College London Hospital and is the couple's fourth child

Poppy is the fourth—and reportedly final—child Mr. and Mrs. Johnson plan to have (pictured: the former PM with his newborn daughter).

Mrs. Johnson surprised her followers with the announcement of baby Poppy’s birth on Saturday, May 24—just three days after she was born—sharing a heartfelt montage of photos on Instagram.

The collection included a selfie with Poppy, a sweet shot of doting new dad Mr. Johnson, and a picture of Romy, who Mrs. Johnson said had been “desperate for a little sister,” alongside her new sibling.

In her Instagram post, Mrs. Johnson wrote, “I can’t believe how pretty and tiny you are. Feel so incredibly lucky. We are all totally smitten.”

She added, “Not sure I’ve slept a minute since you were born—I just can’t stop staring at how completely lovely you are.”

Friends revealed the couple kept the baby’s sex a surprise, having expected a boy.

Mrs. Johnson wrote, “Wilf, Romy, and Frank are absolutely delighted, especially Romy, who was desperate for a little sister. Bring on the matching dresses!”

In the main announcement photo, the baby wears a yellow babygrow and knitted jumper—chosen because the couple didn’t know whether they were having a boy or a girl.

Mrs. Johnson also kept her pregnancy mostly private. She gave birth at UCLH and thanked the “amazing” maternity team in her social media post.

Announcing the baby’s name, Mrs. Johnson shared her nicknames, “Pops” and “Pop Tart.” The middle name Josephine was chosen in honor of Carrie’s mother.

She also hinted that Poppy would be the family’s last child, calling her “a final gang member.”

The snaps also showed the Johnsons enjoying cocktails and pizza to celebrate the birth of their newest arrival

Mrs. Johnson took to Instagram on Saturday to announce the birth of baby Poppy, sharing a series of heartfelt photos and calling her their “final gang member.”

Among the images was a tender shot of Romy cradling her baby sister and another of Wilfred gently stroking Poppy’s head.

She also shared pictures of a pepperoni pizza and a Pina Colada cocktail from ‘Lockdown Liquor & Co,’ captioning one post: “Back from hospital now and time for cocktails and pizza with my tiny baby snoozing on my lap. Life doesn’t get any better.”

Poppy’s arrival follows a difficult period earlier this year when Mrs. Johnson was hospitalized with pneumonia for nearly a week in January. At the time, she wrote:
“Hospital confirmed I had flu and pneumonia. I was there nearly a week and I’m still not recovered. It could take a few more weeks until I feel like myself again. I didn’t expect to spend the first week of 2025 in hospital. After battling a nasty chest infection at home over Christmas for nearly 18 days, things just got out of hand and I was struggling to breathe properly.”

The couple announced their engagement in February 2020 and welcomed their first child, Wilfred, on April 29 of that year. The following year, Mrs. Johnson gave birth to Romy on December 9, and their second son, Frank, was born on July 5, 2023.

The Johnsons chose Wilfred’s name in honor of Mr. Johnson’s grandfather. His middle names—Lawrie and Nicholas—pay tribute to Mrs. Johnson’s own grandfather and to a doctor who treated Boris Johnson during his Covid battle at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.

Their daughter Romy was named after Mrs. Johnson’s aunt, Rosemary. Her middle name, Iris, means “rainbow” in Greek, and her third name, Charlotte, is a tribute to Mr. Johnson’s late mother. Mrs. Johnson has described Romy as their “rainbow baby,” following a miscarriage a year before her birth.

After Frank was born, Mrs. Johnson shared: “Welcome to the world Frank Alfred Odysseus Johnson, born 5th July at 9:15 am. (Can you guess which name my husband chose?!)”
