In an Instagram post shared on Thursday, the 39-year-old described the experience as “the most terrifying night of my life as a single mom.”
“I was home alone getting ready for bed when my 600-pound fridge slammed into me and pinned me against the counter,” she wrote, detailing how the appliance suddenly toppled and trapped her in the kitchen.
Laura Clery revealed she was nearly killed earlier this week after a refrigerator fell on her during a freak accident.
The comedian, who shared that she ended up in a neck brace and was taken away in an ambulance, said the incident left her seriously shaken.
Clery, who shares her two children, Alfie (7) and Poppy (5), with her ex-husband, British record producer Stephen Hilton, said her children were home during the frightening ordeal.
“I genuinely didn’t know if I was getting out of that alive,” she shared, adding that she managed to call 911 from her phone in her pocket while trapped.
First responders arrived and rescued her from the situation. “It took three firefighters to lift it off me,” Clery said. “I’m still shaking.”

She was eventually rescued by first responders after being trapped, with firefighters managing to free her from beneath the heavy appliance.

She shared a video showing herself being rushed into an ambulance, where she asked first responders if they believed she had “broken anything.” One firefighter responded, “That’s why we are going to take you to a trauma center,” as she cried out in pain, saying, “F—k, it hurts.”
In a Patreon post accompanied by photos from the ambulance and hospital, Clery said the pain “was so intense it almost didn’t feel real,” adding that her daughter Penelope’s crying caused her to panic even more.
She also said her son Alfie “ran outside, probably scared out of his mind,” after witnessing the incident.
Now recovering at home, Clery reflected on the ordeal with dark humor, saying she even thought while trapped under the fridge: “This is the dumbest way anyone has ever died.”
In the comments of her Instagram post, many followers sent messages of concern and relief. “Sending you so much love. This is terrifying and absolutely a single mum’s worst fear,” one person wrote. “I’m so sorry Laura and so glad you’re all okay.”
Others echoed similar sentiments, with another fan adding, “I’m really glad you are ok and that help got to you fast.”
However, some followers also criticized her for filming parts of the aftermath, including while being treated by emergency responders. “Why were you recording in the middle of getting put into an ambulance?” one user asked, while another commented, “The firefighters are clearly annoyed. Nobody records after something like that.”

Clery has been a single mother since the couple split in early 2023 after 10 years of marriage. She has previously said Hilton’s relapse into substance addiction played a significant role in their separation.
In a May 2025 Instagram post, Clery said she had reached a “breakthrough” in her life and was focusing on “peace,” “connection,” and surrounding herself with “people who bring out the best in me.”
“I want out of the chaos and the toxicity,” she wrote at the time. “I have no desire to engage in drama.”
