Sure, your living room might be pretty well put together. You might have a great sofa or recliner, a big-screen TV, and a little robot that picks up your stray potato chips. But without a good place to put up your feet, is your life really complete?

So unless you have a coffee table that’s just the perfect height (lucky you!), you’re going to want to take a look at this incredible DIY project.

For starters, you’ll need rope, two pieces of wood, a drill, a glue gun, and some sealant. Oh, and a used tire.

Place the wood over the side of the tire and drill at least several holes.

Then, secure the pieces of wood in place using screws.

Once the wood is secure, find the center, and begin gluing the rope in a spiral pattern outward.

Keep gluing as you spiral outwards towards the edge.

Continue wrapping and gluing the rope onto the tire. Maintain a tight spiral.

When you get half way and the glue you’ve already laid has dried, flip the tire over and continue until you reach the wooden panel on the bottom.

Cut the rope and glue the end to secure the entire spiral.

Next, put down a layer of sealant over the rope. When the first layer has dried, apply another one.

And… Bam! A beautiful, rustic ottoman money literally can’t buy.

What an incredible way to repurpose a useless old tire! I want this in my home. No, I NEED this.
