With King Charles undergoing weekly cancer treatments in London, Prince William has assumed his father’s duties and responsibilities. Additionally, he is supporting his wife’s recovery from planned abdominal surgery and caring for their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Recently, Prince William participated in a fundraising event for London’s Air Ambulance. He expressed gratitude for the support shown to Catherine and his father, particularly in recent times. Among the attendees was actor Tom Cruise, with whom the Prince shared a humorous exchange, jokingly advising him against borrowing any helicopters for his next Mission Impossible film.
Addressing Cruise, Prince William remarked, “If you wouldn’t mind refraining from borrowing either of the new helicopters for the next Mission Impossible, it would be appreciated. We’ve all noticed that, shall we say, you seem to have a unique interpretation of ‘normal wear and tear’ compared to the rest of us.”
In highlighting the significance of the event, William remarked, “Given the recent medical focus of the past few weeks, I figured I’d attend an air ambulance function to take a break from it all!”
“But on a serious note, tonight we come together with a common purpose: to ensure that as many people as possible receive top-quality care through the invaluable services provided by London Air Ambulance. Having served as a pilot for East Anglia Air Ambulance, I understand firsthand the crucial role air ambulance teams play nationwide and the life-saving impact they have in delivering urgent medical care wherever it’s needed.
“In London, our current aircraft have served admirably. However, our capital city is in need of a new fleet, and time is of the essence. The urgency is evident in the name of the appeal itself. By September, we aim to have two new helicopters – equipped with state-of-the-art technology such as night vision capabilities – soaring in our skies.”

Due to his ongoing treatment, King Charles will be abstaining from public engagements. During breaks in his treatment regimen, he is taking respite at the Sandringham estate.
