Sheryl Crow has spoken openly about discovering that her former fiancé, Lance Armstrong, was seeing a “very famous actress” during one of the most difficult periods of her life in 2006, when she was also undergoing cancer treatment.
On Tuesday’s episode of Netflix’s The Bobbycast, hosted by Bobby Bones, the “All I Wanna Do” singer reflected on that time, saying, “I was engaged, I had three beautiful stepchildren, I wanted to have kids with this person.”
She added that their breakup coincided with her diagnosis: “We split in the same week I got diagnosed with breast cancer, and I found out he was seeing a really famous actress.”

She also described the emotional toll of that time, noting, “I went through about nine months of radiation and grieving and anger,” while not naming Armstrong directly.
A representative for Armstrong did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Crow and Armstrong began dating in 2003 and became engaged two years later.
“We ended our relationship in the same week I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” she said.
Sheryl Crow has also spoken about learning that her then-fiancé Lance Armstrong was seeing a well-known actress after their breakup, which she has linked to a difficult period during her cancer treatment.
The “All I Wanna Do” singer previously explained that the couple ended their engagement in February 2006, with Crow later saying the split was tied in part to differing views on starting a family.
Armstrong addressed the breakup in his 2009 memoir Lance: The Making of the World’s Greatest Champion, writing, “She wanted marriage, she wanted children,” and explaining that, while he wasn’t opposed to those things, he didn’t feel ready at that stage of his life after his previous marriage to Kristin Richard and their three children.
